The StoryFutures Academy, led by Royal Holloway with support and funding from EM3, has been shortlisted as one of 30 Creative Teams to take part in a national festival to celebrate the UK’s creativity in 2022.

They are among 30 teams who will each receive £100,000 to develop plans for the UK-wide celebration of "creativity and innovation".The British Film Institute, the British Library, the Eden Project and the Tate galleries are involved in some of the teams that were announced to day (Monday).  Tech firms like Siemens and IBM are also cited as participants, as are such organisations as the European Space Agency, the British Antarctic Survey and the Canal and River Trust.

Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said the selected teams showed "world-class British creativity at its very best - risk-taking, groundbreaking and diverse."

The StoryFutures Academy will explore the use of immersive technologies, drawing on the partnership of the British Film Institute’s world-leading film heritage, Uplands TV and broadcaster and film-maker, David Olusoga’s storytelling expertise.

James Bennett, Director of StoryFutures Academy, said: “StoryFutures Academy is delighted to be leading this extraordinary team of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) creatives, who are all passionate about exploring how immersive storytelling can help us build a shared-sense of identity across the UK."
