Former Leader of Global Financial Services Business to become new Chair of Enterprise M3 LEP

Michael Queen

Former Chief Executive of 3i Group plc, Michael Queen, is to become the new Chair of EnterpriseM3 LEP.

Michael has an impressive range of diverse experience at the most senior level within private and public organisations, and in both executive and governance roles.

He has been an adviser to Government, including a secondment to the Treasury as Head of the NHS Private Finance Unit, and represented the financial sector as a member of the Prime Minister’s Business Advisory Group.

He is currently Chair of Council at the University of Surrey and Chair of the Committee of University Chair’s.  He is also a Director of Coller Capital limited and BTL Limited the company building the Tideway Tunnel in London.

Michael’s appointment was approved and confirmed at a meeting of EM3 Board Directors on the 27th of May 2021. Linda Cheung, EM3 Board Director and Chair of the Board's Nominations Committee responsible for the appointment said:

Michael will be an outstanding Chair for Enterprise M3 LEP. Not only has Michael operated at the most senior level in the private sector, his track record in the public sector and work with Government is also exceptional. Since leaving his full-time career, Michael has sought out ways to contribute to the Enterprise M3 region. He is passionate about the area and determined to build on the LEP's strong reputation of working with partners to achieve transformational change."

Speaking about his appointment, Michael said:

“Enterprise M3 plays a vital role in linking Central and Local Government with Educational Institutions and Businesses of all sizes throughout Hampshire and Surrey.  

It is an honour to be appointed Chair of this important organisation at a time when we need to accelerate growth to create high skill jobs throughout the two Counties.

Hampshire and Surrey have great competitive advantages as attractive business locations - we need to ensure that their full potential is delivered.”

Michael Queen will assume his new role on the first of August, succeeding Dave Axam, who steps down after almost seven years as Board Director and then Chair.
