Winchester Science Centre’s Planetarium has undergone a major upgrade to make it fully inclusive and accessible – thanks to a £500,000 cash injection from Enterprise M3.

Representatives from the LEP were among those who attended a launch event and experienced for the first time the now-reopened Planetarium in all its starry glory.

Enterprise M3 provided £360,000 specifically for the planetarium upgrade and a further £140,000 for accessibility modifications and exhibition area refurbishment.

I am delighted to be at the opening of the new planetarium and to see the great things Winchester Science Centre is doing to inspire young people towards STEM.

Dave Axam , Enterprise M3 Chair

The Planetarium, which has been a feature at Winchester Science Centre since 2008, has undergone a full system upgrade by world-leading planetarium provider Evans and Sutherland and Skypoint Planetariums, and the results are spectacular.

Not only will visitors experience high definition visuals with deeper star fields and stunning contrast but the new system will bring new capability regarding accessible shows for people with visual and hearing impairment, through personal audio experiences, subtitles and embedded British Sign Language interpretation.
