Guildford’s tech cluster was praised as “world-leading” in Parliament when the borough’s MP asked how the Government was directing investment towards its businesses.

Angela Richardson, MP for Guildford, asked the Department for International Trade in the House of Commons “what steps the department was taking to encourage inward investment into the computer gaming industry which is a growing sector in Guildford”.

Minister for Investment Graham Stuart responded:

The department’s High Potential Opportunities programme, which aims to identify and promote a range of foreign direct investment opportunities across the whole of the UK is currently working with the Enterprise M3 LEP in my honourable friend’s area and others in Guildford to highlight the commercial opportunities from the video games and 5G clusters in that region which are world-leading.

EM3 assistant director, delivery, Rob Dunford, said:

It was fantastic to see the great work on Enterprise M3 games and immersive tech High Potential Opportunity reference in Parliament.
