Rural Action Group

Enterprise M3 has established a Rural Action Group to promote the economic interests of the rural areas which make up a large proportion of our area.

The action group brings together public, private and not-for-profit stakeholders to develop and recommend policies and action plans to achieve this and to provide information into the Local Enterprise Partnership Board to support their decision making and policies.

The Rural Action Group promotes viable and vibrant sustainable rural communities across the LEP area. The group works with local boroughs and other organisations to secure long term growth of the economy and the labour force in the rural areas, whilst also promoting sustainable management of the countryside and protecting landscapes of national importance. It articulates rural needs and formulates and promotes policies and actions to achieve its objectives:

  • Support and encourage growth of businesses of all types located in rural areas
  • Oversee the implementation of rural priorities in line with the Enterprise M3 Strategic Economic Plan and EU strategy
  • Investigate and identify the key issues affecting businesses located within rural areas and particularly opportunities and barriers for growth
  • Identify the appropriate support for businesses located within rural areas
  • Make recommendations to the LEP board on policies, actions and funding decisions within the rural area to take forward the Strategic Economic Plan and EU strategy
  • Review and recommend policy on rural activities including housing, rural planning policy, LEADER and rural broadband
